The title is a teeny bit of a fib this time since we didn't have this post last week. But it is back! Catches are becoming the most common thing in the gallery as of late and they're getting better and better.
One day later than normal, and I'd like to show you guys some of the catches we've gotten for our Steal Public Art challenge! We've extended the challenge until the 5th of August so you've still got lots of time to get some excellent catches and maybe win a 3D camera or a 3D print!
Two new Autodesk apps that help you simulate design concepts in the field or in the office! Unlike the traditional approach of using paper, pencil, and a calculator to develop equations for design options, Autodesk ForceEffect and ForceEffect Motion does all the simulation and engineering calculations for you right on your mobile device, enabling you to quickly and easily simulate design options during the concept phase to determine the viability of a design.
Autodesk ForceEffect allows users to quickly and easily create design concepts anywhere, anytime! The mobile app enables users to create free body diagrams to understand design performance at the conceptual phase of a design.
Autodesk Force Effect is available on iOS and Android.
Autodesk ForceEffect Motion allows users to quickly and easily create kinematic designs. The mobile app simulates the motion of design and provides dynamic feedback on how the design operates.
Head out and use 123D Catch to steal some interesting pieces of public art!
1 grand prize winner will win a Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D Digital Camera
and a print of their winning model! 20 runner up winners will win prints of their winning models!
To enter, follow these steps:
go out and get an excellent Catch of your favorite piece of public art
upload your creation to the 123D gallery anytime from July 9th to August 5th, 2012
tag your model with "public art" and tell us a little about it! We love stories.
For more information (including complete rules because those are very important!), explanation and inspiration, be sure to check out our official contest page!
Please note: this contest is only open to residents of the 50 United States (including the District of Columbia but excluding Puerto Rico), Canada (excluding the province of Quebec, Canada), United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, China, Colombia, Denmark, Germany, India, Norway, Switzerland and the Netherlands... though we would still love to see what everyone else can catch!
Anthony Heath, the creator of the catch, also created a hologram! He works for Zebra Imaging, a company that produces fantastic 3D holographic prints. Below is a video of his T-Rex head in action, hologram style!
Here at 123D we're planning weekly challenges for you guys!
First up - we want you to steal public art! Head to your local park, to a famous hometown monument, to your favorite museum - and get the best catch that you can of your chosen piece of public art.
This challenge will start on July 9th but I wanted to give everyone a head start to plan some excellent catches. Just make sure you don't upload anything to the gallery yet!
We'll have more information about how to enter (and win 3D prints!) and about upcoming challenges as we hammer out the details - stay tuned! We can't wait to see what you guys catch!
We printed lots of awesome models over the last couple of months for our Print of the Day contest! I'm sending out the last batch of emails to winners today and then it'll be all wrapped up. I can't wait until everyone gets their prints.
But for now, here are a few photos from the first batch of prints we did. Click through to view the model in the gallery and compare the two. The Objet printers we have do fantastic work!
