123D Catch is now available for iPhone 4/4S!

123D Catch is now available for iPhone 4/4S and iPad 2nd and 3rd generation!
  • Tap the screen to set your subject's focus and exposure during image capture
  • Shoot a photograph using either the on-screen camera capture button or the "volume up" button
  • Review, retake, and delete photographs before submitting your project to the Autodesk cloud for processing
  • Log in to the 123D Catch web app at apps.123Dapp.com/catch and find your iOS captures already there, ready for further editing and fabrication

    I just found out about this, the idea of 123D Catch as a free service is perhapes as important as Youtube and Google. This solves the creation barrier problem in many ways of being able to convert 2D photo’s and things that are 3D already into 3D geometry from 2D images that can be worked with by hobbyists or professionals alike, it’s pretty much a neccessity as the amount of time it takes to do things normally is time most people don’t have and it requires so much effort to add all the little extra details.

    Being freely available to anyone not only enables freedom of expression and creativity and more things to be accomplished, but the more people that scan and share objects, the higher the number of objects available in that Autodesk also benefits from it as the library of objects grows and is available to content creators to add more detail to everything from photo’s, games, and other things and use their products more.

    That would take forever with just a few people manually creating all the geometry from scratch as with not enough availability means less chance to find the object you’re looking for.

    Another thing is the ability to perform 3D printing and more…

    Anyone having trouble uploading their model to the community from their iPhone. Error Message, Unable to communicate with the Community. Make sure you have an internet connection and try again. I am connected everything else seems to be working. Appreciate any leads.
